Regulation of Plant Growth - from Cells to Organs to Organisms

The growth of plants is a fundamental biological process that has an impact on food production and the structure of the landscape. Thus, crops represent a key foundation of our diet and bio-energy-based society. They also serve in many ways as a supplier of renewable raw materials for various technical applications. Scientists from the fields of plant genomics and plant biotechnology use modern methods of biochemistry, systems biology, microbiology, molecular biology and process engineering to improve crops, gain herbal ingredients such as fiber or phytochemicals, or plant enzymes or operating principles for new applications. Through in-depth knowledge and analysis and localization of useful properties of plants at the genetic level, it is possible to utilize this knowledge in breeding. For modern plant breeding, the use of genetically optimized organisms represents an increase in efficiency, reduced costs and time savings. The understanding of plant growth processes is vital for the establishment of sustainable agriculture, both in Germany and worldwide.

"Regulation of Plant Growth" will be held for the first time. It provides an important hub for networking activities of scientists in the fields of plant genomics and plant biotechnology in Germany and Europe. "Regulation of Plant Growth" is relevant not only for the scientific exchange of current research results and ideas; we also hope to stimulate new collaborations and projects through discussions during the meeting. The organizers are particularly interested to attract young scientists to the symposium. Thus, the conference fee is minimized in order to enable as many young scientists as possible to participate.
